I love to sculpt and hand build in clay - low fire and often terra cotta (the reddish orange stuff). The pieces above are part of a series I call "dreamer". They are all around 6.5 in. wide by 12 in. high. The first two are wearing earrings I created for them. If you click on the image you can see it in close up.

Below is another series I created called "earth singers".

Sculpted out of clay, fired, glazed, fired again then detailed with acrylic paints, these earth singer rattles are made of everything “elemental” - earth, water, air, fire and spirit. They are a reminder and a promise of Voice not only as speech but as communication, expression and dialogue.

I haven't done a lot of clay work lately but my mixed media work is taking me back to it. Future plans include wall pieces.
