Doing a gig for/with our writing group the Sooke Scribblers reminded me of some of the writing exercises we’ve done in the past. A fun one involved making a list of nouns and a separate list of verbs and then coming up with a poetic line using the noun and verb . The verbs would be in the realm of some activity, like cooking or in this next case, “10 things a lover might do”. My words were “hands” and “woo”. What I came up with was: “and the hands woo, not by touch but by intention”. I’ve been trying to grow this line into a bigger piece. Over the next few days my twitter posts will evolve out of this.
and the hands woo
not by touch
by intention
do something with your hands
reach for a word
handle it
turn it over, examine its undersides
