change

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
~Barack Obama~

Here I go again. I’ve revised my website and given it a new look using my photos. The next stage is to increase my level of “making”. I have some poems being edited and waiting to be sent out. I have some copper all ready for etching and forming. Balancing creative time with everyday activities takes practice but I’m slowly getting there.

The next phase of my change involves regular marketing because, yes, I am trying to make a living from some of what I create. I am a business as well as a creator. I sell prints and notecards of my photography, chapbooks of my writing and other things like copper curio and mixed media. You can see it at my gallery/shop EarthWord Studios which will also be undergoing some updates in the near future.

hero-foolBetween my writing and my art I have been exploring the concept of “hero”. The classic adventurer and the everyday human. I am very interested in how it might apply to me – “the hero of my own story” as well as to other women as they move through their lives.

I’m writing it out and exploring it in other mediums like copper. The piece at the right is etched and coloured copper riveted together at certain points (very flat 2D) attached to a painted wood base. He/She is a hero-fool with their dog along on the journey.

More on that later.
